Guidelines for Presenters ~ Plenary & Concurrent
Sessions |
Thank you for your interest in submitting an abstract to present
at the International Cities Town Centres and Communities Society (ICTC Society)
conference “ICTC2007 – Cities on the Edge”. Please read these Guidelines
thoroughly before submitting your abstract. This document also contains
information on how to submit your abstract using an abstract template, various
audiovisual requirements, registration and what to do once you get to the
Conference.

Abstract Submission Form & Abstract: (DUE 24
November, 2006)
Please download a copy of the Abstract Template from the links below
and save it as a word document (.doc). Then simply highlight each line/text
and replace with your abstract text. The document should be named as
described in the "Format of Your Abstract" section below. e.g. SMITH,
Peter.doc
Dowload the Abstract Submission Form from the links below and save as a
word document (.doc) and click onto each section to enter all information
requested. If you are not able to download the documents, please contact
the ICTC Society to arrange for the documents to be sent to you by email.
This document should be named as described in the "Format of Your Abstract"
section below but add the words Submission Form after your name. e.g. SMITH,
Peter Submission Form.doc
Send both documents together as attachments by email to by email to krys@ictcsociety.org
Format of Your Abstract:
To assist you with preparing your abstract, save the Abstract Template as an
MS word file and name it as follows:

Your SURNAME, firstname.doc (example SMITH,
Peter.doc)

If you are submitting more than one abstract then you should
copy additional templates for each abstract and name your first document SMITH,
Peter1.doc and then the second SMITH, Peter2.doc etc.

Formatting: Click onto and highlight each line you wish to use
and replace it with your own text. Formatting will be automatically
applied.
Length of abstract should be approximately 150 – 250 words only.
Abstract Template
Description:
-
Abstracts should follow the format described below: (template is
set up this way)
first line(s): Title in Bold, Upper Case, Centred and
20pt Times New Roman
next line: Name of presenter should be 20pt below title line, italicised,
centred and 12pt Times New Roman.
next line: Post Nominals, Job Title and Address of organisation, centred,
10pt Times New Roman.
next line: Abstract text (as detailed above) should 12pt Times New Roman and
be two lines below the presenter name and affiliation, left-right
justified.
Biography: (DUE 24 November, 2006)
Biographies will be used as a basis for your introduction by the session
Chair at the Conference and should be no more than 50 words. Please include your
current job position and interests as a minimum. Please include your Biography
in the space provided in the “Abstract Submission Form” .
You will receive e-mail verification within 1 or 2 days after the receipt of
the abstract. If any additional information is required, the ICTC Society will
contact you.

Registration: (DUE 26 April, 2007)
| All presenters either oral or poster, are required to register for
the full conference at the discounted Presenter Registration fee of
$AUD595. Subsidised registrations are limited to two per
presentation, however, only the presenters indicated on the original
abstract are permitted at this rate. Any additional presenters added
at a later date may be included in the conference handbook and program as
co-presenters but must register at the delegate rate.
To be accepted and included in the conference program, registrations
should be received by the Early Bird Date of 26 April,
2007.

Audiovisual Guidelines: (Full Powerpoint DUE 1 June,
2007)
A PowerPoint presentation is the standard format. Older
versions of Windows and Mac operating systems can sometimes cause compatibility
issues. The abstract submission form asks for details of your operating system
and PowerPoint version. Please contact Krys Henshaw if you require additional
information.
The following equipment will be provided in all meeting rooms:
- A computer;
- A data projector;
- Screen, and
- A lectern with microphone and chairperson’s table.
No other equipment (including internet connection, overhead projectors,
whiteboards or VCRs) will be provided unless requested and agreed to by the
Organising Committee.
It is essential that all PowerPoint presentations are e-mailed to krys@ictcsociety.org or posted to PO Box
1380, PALM BEACH Qld 4221 by no later than 1 June 2007. This
will ensure that your presentation is checked, loaded into the Conference
network and ready for you on arrival. Additionally, it is requested that, as an
added precaution, you bring a copy of your presentation with you to the
conference on CD/DVD or USB memory stick.

Format of Your Full Paper: (DUE 12 June, 2007)
Click on the Full Paper Template below, save it as a word document
(.doc) and then produce your paper from this template.
Simply hightlight each line and replace with the text requested. This
will ensure that all papers are submitted in a uniform manner. Save
the paper using the naming forumula below and then forward by email as
an attachment to krys@ictcsociety.org
Naming Formula:
-
Your SURNAME, firstname PaperNo.doc (example SMITH, Peter
P12.doc)

If you are submitting more than one abstract then you should
copy additional templates for each paper and name each document as above
but use the Paper Number allocated to this Paper (example SMITH, Peter P13.doc)
etc.
Your paper number was advised to you with your confirmation letter.

Template
The Society will endeavour to post full papers to the web prior to the
conference. ICTC2007 conference delegates will be permitted to access the papers
on-line via password.

Publishing Agreement:
The ICTC Society will keep your intellectual property secure at all times and
only use it for the purpose of promoting the ICTC2007 conference. The Society
asks for your guarantee that your presentation will not be offered to any other
parties prior to the Conference.

At the Conference:
- The reason your presentation is requested several weeks before the
Conference is so that any potential problem areas can be spotted and fixed well
before the day. Nothing upsets the audience more than a faulty powerpoint
presentation.
- Please meet the chairperson in your meeting room during the break
15 minutes prior to start of your session.
- Please provide your chairperson with 2 questions (preferably printed) that
he/she can ask you, should the audience have no questions.
- Please be mindful of your presentation time and do not exceed the time
allotted. Your chairperson will indicate to you when your session is nearing an
end. .
- Further presenter and chairperson guidelines will be forwarded to you prior
to the conference.
